Pre-Authorization Hold Policy

At RapidoRide, we want to ensure transparency and clarity in our payment processes. As part of our commitment to providing a seamless ride experience, we implement pre-authorization holds under certain circumstances. Below are the key points regarding our pre-authorization hold policy:

Purpose of Pre-Authorization Holds : Pre-authorization holds are temporary holds placed on your payment method when you request a ride. These holds are not actual charges but serve to verify your payment method’s validity and ensure that funds are available.

Triggering Pre-Authorization Holds : Pre-authorization holds are triggered when you request a ride through the RapidoRide app. The hold amount is determined based on factors such as the estimated fare of the ride and any applicable fees.

Duration of Pre-Authorization Holds : The duration of pre-authorization holds may vary but typically lasts until the completion of the ride. Once the ride is completed and the final fare is determined, the pre-authorization hold is released, and your payment method is charged accordingly.

Authorization Amount : The pre-authorization hold amount may be higher than the actual fare to account for potential additional charges, such as tolls or route changes during the ride. However, you will only be charged the final fare determined at the end of the ride.

Visibility of Pre-Authorization Holds : You may see the pre-authorization hold reflected in your payment method’s pending transactions. This hold will disappear once the ride is completed and the final payment is processed.

Handling Pre-Authorization Holds : If you cancel the ride before it starts, the pre-authorization hold will be released immediately, and you will not be charged. However, if you cancel after the ride has started, standard cancellation fees may apply.

Resolution of Issues : If you encounter any discrepancies or have concerns regarding pre-authorization holds, please contact our customer support team. We are here to assist you and ensure that your RapidoRide experience is smooth and satisfactory.

Handling Double Charges: Occasionally, a delay in processing the pre-authorization hold may lead to it appearing as though you were charged twice for an order. However, rest assured that this is not the case. The initial charge is a temporary hold, and the actual charge will only occur once the ride is completed.

Refund Process for Canceled Orders: If your order is canceled, the temporary authorization hold should reverse within a few business days. If you still see the authorization hold after cancellation, the refund may take 3-10 days to process. This timeframe can vary depending on your bank’s processing times.

Authorization Hold Removal: The pre-authorization hold typically disappears from your bank statement within 3-10 business days after the charge goes through. However, in some cases, it may take longer depending on your bank’s processing times or policies.

Further Assistance: If you have concerns or require more information about the authorization hold on your statement, we recommend contacting your bank directly. They can confirm that the money has not left your account and provide additional details about their authorization hold process and the expected timeframe for the hold to disappear from your statement.

By using RapidoRide, you agree to abide by our pre-authorization hold policy outlined above. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in maintaining the integrity of our payment system.

Understanding Authorization Holds and Payment Methods: FAQs

1. Bank Notifications : Prior to commencing your journey, you may receive notifications from your financial institution regarding an authorization hold placed on your account. These holds serve to validate the legitimacy of your chosen payment method and ensure the availability of funds required for your trip. Please be assured that while these notifications may resemble charges, they are temporary and will either be finalized or canceled within a brief period.

2. Handling Multiple Holds : The occurrence of multiple authorization holds for trips conducted within the same day is contingent upon the status of any preceding holds on your account.

3. Clarifying Hold Amounts : Authorization holds are established to cover the anticipated total trip expenditure at the time of request, exclusive of any promotional discounts. Any surplus hold amounts will be promptly reimbursed to your designated payment method.

4. Differentiating Charges : When reviewing your credit card statement, discerning between authorization charges and finalized transactions is paramount. Authorization charges are typically denoted as “Pending,” “Voided,” or “In Progress” rather than “Posted.”

5. Addressing Additional Payment Requests : In the event of a prompt to furnish supplementary payment methods, this may be attributed to an unsuccessful initial authorization hold owing to insufficient funds. We advise contacting your financial institution to rectify this matter promptly.

6. Understanding Duplicate Charges : The appearance of duplicated charges for a singular trip may arise from alterations to your journey’s itinerary, resulting in an adjusted fare surpassing the initial authorized amount.

For further elucidation on authorization hold procedures and payment queries, we recommend liaising directly with your banking institution.*
